What I'm Diggin'

I know, I'm a day late with this thing, but better late than never... right?!

Okay first of all I have been getting a lot of inspiration from one of my favorite author's blogs recently. Donald Miller (author of Blue Like Jazz and many other lovely books) has a wonderful blog, but this specific post suck out to me today.

As some of you maybe already know, I am a huge hula hooping fan. Love it. It's feminine, freeing, great exercise, and a ton of fun (that is, until you knock over your mother-in law's glass candle holder... yikes.) I loooooveee this shirt from HoopPretty!

More beautiful Pyrex!!!

I know these little felted baby shoes are crochet felted, but I do think I should be able to figure out how to do something like these by using the wet felting method. They are sooooo cute and I have been in love with them for a good couple of years now!

Also, this felted poppy pin is to die for. So lovely!

Ryan and I have been apartment hunting for the last couple weeks and have come to the realization that the word to describe our housing future is.... TINY. This website has helped a tooonnnn with inspiration and motivation. I love the idea of small living, downsizing and simplicity so having a tiny apartment does not intimidate me too much. Even with that said, these are some basic challenges that go along with tiny living quarter, this site has some helpful solutions!

So anyway, a huge blizzard is supposed to hit all of us in central Illinois so maybe these next few days will be a productive felting time for me... I can only hope! Happy Monday everyone!

Knitting frenzy!

I have been knitting a lot lately, mostly because it had been such a long time and I've missed it so! Some of these scarves I knitted a while ago, but a lot of them (and the hats) I just did last week. So fun!

Also, i am sooooo proud of myself because today I made felted baby booties!!!! Goodness, I've been wanting to for such a long time because they're just so darn stinking cute, but I've also been too intimidated :) I'm glad I tacked the project because they came out great! I'll be taking pics tomorrow when I have some sunlight. I ALSO made some earrings tonight! It's been so nice to get a bit of creative fresh air today :)

Rockin' Felt

I love how felt can be used in soooooo many creative ways! I saw this certain use of felt somewhere on youtube a while ago and fell in love with the concept. Felted soap is pretty much combining a washcloth and a bar of soap to make one magical and wonderful creation! And yes, they work great... I've tried! Felting your bars of sap actually make them last twice as long also, so you get more bang for your buck :) I fell in love with the look of rock felted soap back when I was in Germany and made these little beauties <3

I plan on continuing to make my own soaps to have a line of plain organic soaps as well as a line of organic felted soaps! I'm really excited :) Well, I'm off to go do more homework- happy Hump Day everyone!

yum. yum.vintage.

I fed my vintage Pyrex obsession today with some thrifting fun! I love the feeling of hunting for treasure! and I found some for sure! Check these babies out...

Love. love. love. They were about 80 cents each... all the more wonderful! I had a class get cancelled today so I took the extra hour in my day to go do some thrifting, and it paid off! I had some good Elyse time as well, which was very nice :)

Also, I wanted to show you the big collection of felted phone cozies that I had at one point in time! Since this photo was taken I have sold and given away a lot of these, but plan on making duplicates because some of them were just too stinkin cute! What do you think, which ones are your favorites? Mine is the peace sign one, who I delightfully gave to my darling Danielle.

Hope you all survived your Monday! See you again soon!

What I'm Diggin'

Sundays are good for cruising the Internet for lovely little treasures. I think Sundays will be my official day for sharing some of these lovelies with you :) So, these are some things that I've been diggin' today and all this week. What have you been diggin'? Have you found some little treasure in this huge sea of the Internet that you would like to share??

Fist of all...

How magical is this Portland, Organ apartment scene??

And these amazing felted slippers give all kinds of inspiration. It's been my dream to make cute felted slippers! Maybe one of these days I'll get brave enough to try it! Until then, I'll just droll over these babies.

I've been a little bit (okay, a lotta bit) obsessed over people's freaking amazing vintage Pyrex collections. Me likey. I can't even handle how darling this collection is! Any of you want to give me some Pyrex so I can have a collection like this??? Pretty please?

You can look forward to seeing some felted earring like these in my Etsy shop when it opens! I just they they're so cool!

Welcome to Heart Felt... The Blog!

Some of you may know me better as Handmade by Elyse. And while Handmade by Elyse did serve we very well for a good couple of years, I felt that my little handmade business identity was in need of some transformation. I consider myself a fiber artist with my fiber of choice usually being wool. I have been almost constantly knitting since mt Grandma taught me when I was 15, I have been doing knitted felting for a few years now in hopes of being somewhat as good as my aunt who taught me how (Not quite there yet I'm sure!) and while I was recently living in Germany I learned the wonderful art of wet felting. I knit with almost any kind of fiber, unless felting is in mind.... which, to be honest, almost always is!

I do have a new Etsy shop that is almost ready to be opened! You can be looking for that at the end of February! And I also have hopes of teaching some felting classes here in Springfield sometime in the near future! Now, along with my emphasis on felting, I will still be making and selling my handmade jewelry (Some with a new twist!!) as well as my handmade soaps (also with a new twist!!). But now, without further adieu.... Here are some photos of what you can be looking forward to with the all new Heart Felt- Handmade Accessories!
